Why?
We’ve had a busy few years… New staff, more new staff, working during a global pandemic, adapting to life after a global pandemic, building a new HQ, moving into the new HQ, to name but a few things that have kept us on our toes! We decided that the best way to thank the team and celebrate all that is fantastic in working within our family run business was to make it official and put our name forward for a prestigious Cornwall Business Award…
How?
Although we’ve been in business for over 36 years, 2022 was our first time entering this competition. There were fifteen categories to choose from and each business can apply for a maximum of two awards. Our categories of choice were the ‘Growth Business Award’ and the ‘Best Family Business’. We submitted our two applications and eagerly awaited the judge’s decisions. To our delight, we were shortlisted down to the top three companies for both awards! We were through to ‘Showdown Day’. Showdown day involved a separate interview and presentation for each category. As daunting as it may sound, speaking passionately and honestly about our company that not only has a great history, but an exciting future was a real pleasure and the interview time flew by. All we could do next was wait for the big night…
The results are in…
The awards evening was held at the St Mellion Estate on Thursday 30th June 2022. It was a black tie/glamorous dress code which included a four-course dinner and even a speech from TV presenter and adventurer Ben Fogle. It was safe to say that despite practising our gracious loser and there’s “always next year” faces, we were surprised, delighted and humbled to be called up on stage not just once but twice!!! It was a fantastic evening and a special congratulations should go to the team at the Cornwall Business Awards for all of their hard work and efforts, not only on the night, but in the months leading up to the final evening. Well done and hopefully we’ll be back next year! 😊
